Terms & Conditions


A. “One Island A Thousand Treasures Campaign” (“Campaign”), is organized by Cinnamon Hotels Management Limited, a company incorporated in Sri Lanka (“Organizer “).

B. Participants agree and accept that this Campaign is not a competition and is designed solely to promote Sri Lanka(“Island”) by bringing to life authentic unheard treasured stories Sri Lanka holds whilst uplifting the outlook and perception of Sri Lanka through unforgettable experiences.

C. Stories posted must reflect authentic experiences and should be crafted in a manner that takes in to account the cultural sensitivities of Sri Lanka and does not offend any person.

D. Participants (“Participants”) who participate in this Campaign will be appreciated and may receive benefits from Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts.


A. The Campaign will commence on 22nd February 2022 and continue until the 22nd February 2023 (“Campaign Period”).

B. The Organizer may at its sole and absolute discretion extend or reduce the Campaign Period at any time without any prior notice.


A. The Campaign is open to everyone and is not limited to Sri Lankan nationals/residents.

B. All submissions in respect of the Campaign must be submitted within the Campaign Period.

C. By submitting stories, you accept these Terms and Conditions including the Privacy Statement referenced in Section 11 M of these Terms and Conditions, as may be amended from time to time, as well as any further notices and announcements displayed on the One Island A Thousand Treasures website as part of the Campaign.

D. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Organizer will not be responsible for the stories or content therein or any lost, delayed, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, or undeliverable submissions, or any delay or failure to transmit, receive or consider any story.


A. Participants may submit their authentic story of a unique place, locality, or culture via the One Island A Thousand Treasures website (www.oitt.lk) & social media platforms during the Campaign Period.

B. Participants may click on the add button on the Campaign ads on Facebook or Instagram and will be directed to the One Island A Thousand Treasures website (www.oitt.lk)) to submit their entry.

C. As a gesture of good will, to appreciate you for your time and effort, Stories submitted will be reviewed by the Organizer and Participants will be rewarded benefits also called the Treasures (“Treasures “).

D. The Organizers will repost the stories received and use such stories with acknowledgement and credit to the relevant Participant on various platforms, including but not limited to the One Island A Thousand Treasure Platform, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts Website, digital platforms as well as for re-marketing purposes on 3rd party websites/blogs/YouTube pre-roles, with a view of promoting Sri Lanka without being obliged to make any payments to the Participant.

E. Participants agree and understand that the stories submitted will be shared/published/reposted with credit to the relevant Participant and with no obligation on part of the Organizer to make any payment for the sharing/publishing/ reposting/ of the story.

F. Participants agree and understand that by submitting their stories under this Campaign, the stories including the information and materials submitted may be used by the Organizer with the necessary credit to the Participant for promotional purposes and the Participant agree to grant a perpetual right to use the same for promoting Sri Lanka on various platforms including but not limited to the One Island A Thousand Treasure Platform , Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts Website , digital platforms as well as for re-marketing purposes on 3rd party websites/blogs/YouTube pre-roles without any claim for any payment including but not limited to any royalty fee or license fee or any fee of similar nature .

G. Participants agree and understand that the Organizer has the right to use, edit, translate, adapt, post, stream, copy and exploit the stories including the information and material submitted, in whole or in part, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised throughout the world, for the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, for advertising, promotional, trade and other purposes.


A. The Stories should contain authentic experiences of Sri Lanka, it should be vivid, descriptive, and creative and should not be mythical stories.

B. Stories can be submitted in English, Sinhala, or Tamil.

C. The stories including information and material (in whatsoever form) submitted in connection with this Campaign should not:

  1. contain any material, information or the like that is fraudulent, forged, a misrepresentation of facts or intended to mislead or trick any person.
  2. contain, depict, or refer to any content that would bring disrepute to disparage or place the Campaign, Sri Lanka, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, its affiliated companies, or partners of the Campaign in a negative light.
  3. contain, depict, imply, or refer (explicitly or implicitly) to any crude, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, violent, disparaging, discriminatory, offensive, illegal, or otherwise unsuitable language, activity, or other content (as determined by the Organizer in its sole discretion).
  4. contain, depict, or refer to any content of or which without merit refers to any third party (as determined by the Organizer in its sole discretion).
  5. contain any content that violates any law or any third party’s rights (including privacy, publicity, personality, and intellectual property rights).
  6. have been used by and/or submitted by any other person to this Campaign or in respect of any other purpose. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
  7. trigger any reporting or royalty obligation to any third party.
  8. contain and/or use the “Cinnamon” or any Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts trademarks, service marks, slogans, logos, or social media posts.


A. Participants represent and warrant that by submitting stories for this Campaign:

  1. That the stories are original and that they are the author of it.
  2. That they take full responsibility for their work and submissions.
  3. That their stories do not infringe any third-party rights and is authentic and shall keep the Organizer indemnified of same.
  4. The Organizer or any partner of the Campaign’s use of your stories including information and material will not infringe or violate any laws, third party intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.


A. Closing date for submission 31st August 2022

B. Considering the novelty of the story, creativity, functional value additions etc. of the story posted tokens of appreciation and good will gestures will be decided by the Organizer.

C. Such decision shall be final and binding and not be open to challenge or appeal.

D. Upon Participant’s submission of an authentic Island (Sri Lanka) story of a unique place, people or culture, The Organizer may share the tokens of appreciation and earned good will (if any) for the submission via email from One Island Thousand Treasures within a period of 30 days from the date of submission.

E. Whilst the Organizer shall use its best endeavors to meet these timelines, the Organizer shall have absolute discretion to change the same as it deems fit and appropriate with or without notice to the participants.


A. Participants will be notified of the Treasures they have received, if any, for the stories shared on social media by email within a period of 30 days from the date of submission of the relevant story.

B. Organizer reserves its right to request valid proof of identity, residency, age, and other relevant documentation and may disqualify Participants at any point if Organizer at its sole discretion determines that the provided proof is not sufficient or inaccurate.

C. The Participant receiving the above-mentioned email must respond within a period of 14 days from the date of the email acknowledging the Treasures they have l received along with other information which may have been requested by the Organizer to obtain the applicable vouchers carrying the Treasures.

D. Upon receipt of the acknowledgment email by the Participant, the Organizer will contact the Participant within a reasonable time and take necessary steps to issue the applicable vouchers to the Participant.

E. If the Participant cannot be contacted for whatsoever reason or does not acknowledge the Treasures, they have received within 14 days of being notified, the Organizer reserves the right to withdraw the good will granted and cancel the voucher.

F. The Organizer reserves the right to substitute any voucher with that of similar value at any time at its absolute discretion without prior notice.

G. Vouchers are non-transferable to another individual and non-negotiable.

H. Vouchers are not exchangeable, transferable, or redeemable for cash, credit, other items, in part or in full.

I. Upon receipt of the vouchers, the Participants may use the voucher during the stipulated time on the voucher.

J. The Organizer may, without notice and at any time in its sole option, disqualify any Participant who:

  • fails to comply with these terms and conditions.
  • attempts to register or participate in the Campaign in any manner or through any means other than as described in these terms and conditions.
  • attempts to disrupt or undermine the Campaign or attempts to circumvent any of these terms and conditions.
  • acts in a manner that would bring disrepute to Sri Lanka, the Organizer, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, its affiliates and/or any partner of the Campaign.
  • In the sole opinion of Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts is found to be conducting in bad faith.


A. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Campaign and these terms and conditions without notice for whatsoever reason whether for reasons within the control of the Organizer or beyond its control such as in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, pandemic or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the Organizer’s control.


A. Participants are recommended to read these terms fully and not participate if they do not agree with the same.

B. By entering this Campaign and submitting a Participant indicates his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

C. The Organizer shall not under any circumstance be liable to indemnify and /or hold harmless you, your partner or any person claiming under, for on behalf of you in respect of any loss or damage suffered as a result of your applying to participate in the Campaign whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise.


A. Participants agree that they are participating in this Campaign at their own will

B. Severability: The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Terms and Conditions shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Terms and Conditions shall otherwise remain in effect and be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision was not contained herein.

C. This is not a competition or work for hire but a promotion of Sri Lanka

D. Waiver: By entering the Campaign, you waive all rights to seek injunctive or equitable relief, or to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, or attorneys’ fees.

E. Law: These terms and the relationship between the Participant and the Organizer shall be governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

F. Amendment: these Terms and Conditions may be amended and/or modified by the Organizer at its sole discretion from time to time and the Participants agree to update themselves of such amendments and/modifications if any and to abide by the same.

G. The Participants agree to the use of their names and images in any publicity material, as well as submission. These include features of Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts website, Facebook page, any other publication or broadcast whether in Sri Lanka or in any other country. The Organizer will acknowledge you and give you credit for the story you have shared when using any part of it on any platform without being obliged to make any payment to you.

H. You are requested to bear in mind that your story may be posted on YouTube or other sites to provide maximum publicity to the Campaign along with credit to you by the Organizer without being obliged to make any payment to you.

I. Entry into the Campaign and submitting stories will be deemed as your acceptance as a Participant of these terms and conditions.

J. By joining this Campaign, the Participant agrees to the disclosure of his/her particulars to any third-party service providers and/or partners engaged by the Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts for purposes of the Campaign and to be hosted on Campaign platforms for promotional purposes or for disclosures as mandated by law/legal authority.

K. The Organizer’s decision on all matters relating to this Campaign shall be final and binding and no further correspondence or attempt to dispute such decision would be entertained

L. All Participants agree and acknowledge that all intellectual property including logos, brand names, trademarks, designs on the platforms and websites including but not limited to “Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts” and www.oitt.lk shall be the property of the Organizer and the Participants shall not use it in an form.

M. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other Social Network. You are providing your information to Cinnamon Hotel Management Ltd. and not to any other party. The information provided will be used in conjunction with the following Privacy Policy found at www.oitt.lk
